Itinerary:

04:00-05:00: Scheduled pick-up from the historic city center (you will receive a confirmation with a more precise pick-up time).

The first part of the journey will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to the town of Cusipata, where breakfast will be served. You’ll have about 30 minutes to enjoy your meal. Afterward, we’ll continue on the route, passing by the beautiful Pomacanchi Lagoon, and heading to the village of Santa Lucia, close to the start of the hiking trail, where we will provide a box lunch.

Once everyone is ready, we will begin the hike to the archaeological site of Waqrapukara, a 2-hour uphill walk. After reaching the site, we will take a break to enjoy the stunning Andean landscape, followed by a brief explanation of the site’s history. After about an hour, we’ll retrace our steps back to the transport, which will be waiting for us at the starting point.

Recommendations:

  • We recommend scheduling Waqrapukara as a high-altitude activity for the final days of your itinerary, allowing your body to adjust better to the altitude and enjoy the activity more fully.
  • Don’t forget to bring cash for entrance fees and additional expenses, as well as water and snacks.
  • Wear layered clothing to better cope with the changing mountain climate.
  • The best option is to wear specialized hiking shoes.
